My name is John Townsend and as you may have guessed I enjoy playing my violin (J.B. Vuillaume - 1874).

I earned my Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music in 1979 where I had the privilege of studying with Donald Weilerstein and Peter Salaff of the Cleveland Quartet at a time that was probably near the pinnacle of their incredible careers. 

I have years of experience performing professionally as a soloist as well as an ensemble member of symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras and in chamber music ensembles (string trio and quartet).

Recently retired following 31 years service as a public school orchestra teacher I am seeking professional opportunities to share and enjoy my musical skills within the greater Colorado Springs, CO region.
